Q&A Home > B > Holy Bible > Bible Versions Does the church prefer the NJKV to one of the Catholic Bibles? The NKJV is usually preferred over the standard versions used by the Catholic Church. The NASB is the Bible version of choice used by most Roman Catholics. However, it is written in a very casual manner that presupposes interpretations. Since the Holy Books known as the Deuterocanonical Books are included in this set, we may use it also. The 2nd Edition of the Orthodox Study Bible is preferred. The Douay-Rhimes Bible is also a good choice and has all the holy books, but it is not easy to read because of the old English used.
