Is it right to have two people get married for the sake of making the guy a priest for the church and to keep the girl as an asset to the specific church? I have seen it before where one person loves someone else but is forced to marry the person that (both) parents and the clergy want. I know the Coptic church is desperate to find new priests especially for the youth, but is this sense of arranged marriage acceptable, where they are rushed into marriage, possibly get kids, all to make the man a priest and not lose the women? Ultimately it is the two potential spouses' decision, but what if they want to make their parents and clergy happy, therefore, following through with their decision?

Is it right to make a pros/cons list with your potential spouse, and conclude that it is the "best decision" to get married? Should getting married not be more about love than a pros/cons list. I feel like this list would be acceptable when dating, but I do not believe it is alright for marriage because if you are to make a list, that means there is a couple of points on both sides and this is a lifelong commitment, that should not be decided based on a list.

The choice for a spouse is a personal one. If a man feels he is called to the priesthood and his father confessor recommends someone suitable, there is nothing wrong with him agreeing. The father confessor is not just choosing a particular woman for no apparent reason, but because he knows his spiritual son's strengths and weaknesses, intricate details about his and her personalities, and other important variables, so he would choose someone compatible.

Making a list of pros and cons is a way to prioritize importance of specific factors critical in decision making. Choosing a spouse requires much more than a feeling of being in love. There is a higher and stronger power that is not based on the short-term emotional or sensual love that is caused by phenylethylamine (PEA) secreted from the brain and only based on physical attraction. Rather the mind evaluates the qualities of the other, releases endorphins when the other is endeared based on values and responds with a higher love (agape) that will deepen and grow.
