Ever since my father of confession moved to a different church, I feel like our relationship has faded away. When I confess, I don't feel like we are comfortable anymore with each other, like we are strangers to each other. I want to have a father of confession with whom I can have a relationship. I'm afraid to confess to a new priest because, sooner or later, he will move and it will be the same problem. I can't confess to the priest that has been at my church because I feel like he's my dad and I can't confess to my dad. What should I do?

It is more important to have a confession father in whom you can openly confide and trust in His wisdom to guide you than having someone to whom you can just confess. If it is only a matter of confessing your sins, then you can do that with any priest. The relationship between someone and his/her confession father has a unique depth because it is also based on discipleship. Thank God that there are many ways to communicate. Whenever there is an opportunity to visit in person, do so. Otherwise, communicate with the confession father to whom you feel closest regardless of the distance or the location of the church. This is a spiritual relationship that can continue to grow and be a blessing in your life no matter where you reside. If you are still uncomfortable, perhaps you will feel more comfortable with another confession father. Do not hinder your spiritual life with unnecessary burdens. Make things work to the best that you can.
