Q&A Home > D > Doctrine Since the apostolic fathers knew the story of Enoch through tradition, did it get passed down to us as well? If not, can we try to find the story that is currently passed down through Jewish traditions? What we have reserved as canon is directly from the Holy Scriptures according to the traditional edition of the Holy Bible as well as the Septuagint version. Because of its many inconsistencies and improbable depictions of the state of the fallen angels, the Book of Enoch, in its entirety, was disqualified in the early councils amongst the churches. If you would like to follow up for research, you may do so by searching for scholarly literature on Jewish traditions. However, since the Jews are very strict regarding their texts, especially the Pentateuch, I doubt that the information you find will be valid.
