Q&A Home > S > St. Mary If the Kingdom of Heaven will be opened on Judgment Day, and all the righteous will be in Paradise, why do we say that St. Mary is on the right hand of the King? St. Mary occupies a very special position with God, us and in the church. The incarnation of the Word of God was the beginning of the execution of God's triumphant plan for salvation. The right hand symbolizes strength, power, and victory. It is not only a mere physical presence, but it is protocol to place the most honored dignitaries at the right of the Monarch. Because our Lord Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords, rightfully His mother also receives the title of "Queen" and stands at His side. Mostly like Him in humility, He chose her to become His mother. Psalm 45:9-11 (NKJV) speaks of St. Mary and provides a complete visual of the magnitude of her importance: "At Your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir. Listen O daughter, consider and incline your ear; forget your own people also, and your father's house; so the King will greatly desire your beauty; because He is your Lord, worship Him."
