Q&A Home > P > Prostration Does the Coptic Prayer Book of the Hours involve body movements like the Byzantine? We bow and make the sign of the Cross at the beginning of prayers, every time we recite the Lord's Prayer, the Trisagion and every time we say "Lord have mercy". Prostration is done only on weekdays if we are fasting (i.e. abstaining from food) but not on Saturdays and Sundays. We prostrate every time we say, "Let us kneel down" and after reading the Holy Gospel of the Hour, other than that prostration would be optional and decided individually with the confession father.
