Q&A Home > M > Marriage Does the Coptic Orthodox Church view marriage outside it as adultery? Our Coptic Church does not consider marriage within other churches adulterous. Neither does our church consider married couples from other religions as living in adultery. It is a legal civil marriage accepted by society. If someone marries outside his Coptic Church, he is simply rejecting one of the mysteries of the Coptic Church. This person knowingly and willingly cut himself/herself off from the church and is no longer in communion with her. Consequently, this person looses the privileges of being a full member of the Coptic Church and can no longer partake of the Eucharist.
