Q&A Home > E > Exorcism There is an Ethiopian orthodox father who exorcises. I am not sure whether the Ethiopian Orthodox Church acknowledges him or not. He is so popular in to Ethiopian believers. My friend once gave me a CD of him exorcising, In that video, you can hear the people (demons) answering they were with that person since he/she was born and transferred to him from his/her father or mother. I did not believe it for it contradicted what I learned about the Sacraments in Sunday school classes. How can this be orthodoxy? My friend has been watching CDs of this father many times, and he believes in it.
We cannot be taken captive by statements made by devils. Bear in mind, Satan is the great deceiver. Demons are bound and restricted. When Satan accused God of hedging Job from harm, the Lord's response enforced restrictions on Satan:
"And the Lord said to Satan, 'Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.'” (Job 1:12).
You must be extremely cautions to avoid perpetuating the notion of infants or children being demon possessed. This was the cause for many cases of child abuse in history and even until now. Rather than being engrossed by watching videos about exorcism, be proactive in your community and strongly advocate for parents to have their children baptized early and be reared in the Church with a strong religious education program.
"And the Lord said, 'Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.'” (Luke 22:31-32).
