Q&A Home > C > Clubs/Clubbing Is going to clubs wrong if you are just going for a friend's birthday and you are not drinking, not dressing inappropriately, not dancing, and not doing anything bad? Is this a place you would take your mother, father, daughter, son, a priest, or a bishop? When you order a meal there, will you be able to bow your head for a moment to say a short prayer? Would you feel that Jesus Christ is in your midst in this atmosphere? If the answers to these questions are no, ask yourself, why not? For the same reasons, you also should not go to such places. There is no shortage of beautiful and elegant restaurants where birthdays can be celebrated with good, wholesome fun and entertainment. The clubbing scenario is known to be sensually provocative and imbued with a variety of alcoholic beverages, loud music, and dancing until 4:00 AM. Why do you think there is such a stark difference between the apparel and attitude of patrons of clubs and clientele of refined settings? Thus, the answer to your question is really a series of questions to ask yourself, which you probably already know the answers, but perhaps are seeking a nod to allow you to do what you know you should not do. Doing the right thing is not always easy or popular, and may even cost you a few friends. Do the right thing anyways. "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart" (Galatians 6:9). Be a catalyst amongst your peers by discouraging inappropriate venues for Christians. You know that God goes with you wherever you go. You are not just anybody, "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own" (1 Corinthians 6:19).
