Q&A Home > C > Clubs/Clubbing Is clubbing a sin? Like, if I go to the club with my friends, and I do not drink, but maybe dance a little (not in an inappropriate way), how is it a sin? Clubbing heavily furnishes a tent of temptations and impiety. If you do not fall the first time, or the second, the lure into that den of indulgence will keep leading you back until you give in and sin, and return for more sin, until it becomes a repulsive habit. Furthermore, most of the patrons at such venues do not have innocent, pure intentions. They are likely clubbing to meet others for sexual relations. That is why these patrons dress provocatively and the establishments are open throughout the night. The devil is clever. Clubbing usually occurs during the weekend. How can you attend and dance when you are supposed to be fasting on Friday, or on Saturday night when you ought to be preparing to attend the Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning? Thus, you will break your fast and/or not attend church. Know that the devil is sneaky and malicious, but you are Christian, and belong to Christ alone. "Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: 'The Lord knows those who are His,' and, 'Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.'" (2 Timothy 2:19).
