Q&A Home > E > Evil Spirits Can a good person become possessed? I am in high school and due to my surroundings I got worried. I attend church and try my best to follow Christ and the Orthodox Church. I also avoid all those weird occult stuff. Do I have anything to fear or worry about? Attending church regularly and adhering to the Holy Mysteries are the best and only ways to arm oneself against the forces of evil. Judas Iscariot pretended to live in piety but his heart and will were far from God. Refusing to live a life of repentance allows the devil an entrance into one's life and soul. Living a life of repentance does not mean you are totally free from sin, but you are working out your salvation by struggling to not succumb to sins, through prayers, confession, and partaking of the Hoy Eucharist frequently. Ignorance of Christ also provides an invitation to satanic influences. Reading the Holy Bible daily invites God into your life, an invitation He will gladly accept and never refuse. In all these prayers and Holy Mysteries, we unite with Christ and submit to the work of the Holy Spirit, who will guide us, bless us, admonish us, turn us away from sin, help us to grow in virtue, and lead us throughout the way into the kingdom of God. Speak with your Father Confessor and ask him to give you a specific canon to help you focus and grow in your spiritual life. Trust God. Follow Christ in every way, His teachings, His commandments, and His example. Fear nothing and be assured that the Holy Spirit dwells in you. "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7).
