Q&A Home > S > Suffering If God exist, why do pain and suffering exist? If we must suffer because of Adam and Eve’s sin, was that not forgiven when Jesus was crucified? Why does earth have to be painful in order to have pain free heaven? What if there is no heaven? What if all of this is a myth? What does it mean that we pray asking God to help, support, and grant us peace and none of that happens? What if we cannot get the help and support because God is testing us or whatever? Is it that hard to give us peace? If God exists, then he is unjust? God does exist! Pain and suffering are caused by fellow man, not by God. Humans have the gift of free will and have often chosen destructive measures by which to exercise their freedom. In the process, there are innocent victims, forsaken by man, but not by God. "When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take care of me" (Psalm 27:10). Therefore, even if man chooses to harm another, violence and immorality are not in God's design. Salvation is God's plan from the beginning to save, comfort, and restore each of us. Again, the downtrodden has a choice to accept Christ or reject Him. Many prefer to depend on their own wisdom and turn away from God. God's spirit in us is the nourishment of our souls. It is as if one is in a desert and still rejects a cold cup of water. Many faithful Christians live on earth in poverty, illness, war-torn countries, and all kinds of horrific conditions, but are joyfully. This is what you ought to ask yourself. How do these people do it? What is their secret? Is it really a secret? No, it is not a secret because the Lord Jesus Christ revealed His love to all of us, when He took all our suffering in His own body to the cross. We died in Him and will rise in Him, not only in the Last Day, but in every day and every minute that we strive to reject sin. He shared in our suffering so that we may share in His glory. God exists and He is just. Ask for His peace and you will receive it. "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John 14:27). Do you want this peace? Do you want His peace? What peace are you seeking? His peace is not of this world. It is incomprehensible to selfish, worldly thinking. His peace is inward, kind, and hopeful. It illuminates and projects toward others. Are you willing to receive His peace? Are you willing to accept His peace? Open your heart and ask Him for His peace. God is just!
