Can you explain to me a bit about the flood and Noah's Ark, and if it matches scientific findings? For example, is it possible that Noah could live to be 600 years old? Or is this a typo, along with some other very advanced ages recorded in the Bible (e.g. Methuselah). Is it possible that a handful of people could populate the Earth (inbreeding)? Or was the flood not worldwide? St. Peter seems to say that there was literally only this family left after the flood (1 Peter 3:18-20; 2 Peter 2:5).

There have been many expeditions for finding the ark, but Christians believe it is upon Mount Ararat, though the scientific community is still wrestling to disprove this to be exclusively the actual remnants of the ark. There are major catastrophes every day that wipe out cities, islands, and communities. The earth at that time was different. The human and animal population were miniscule compared to our understanding of our over-populated environment today. Continents were surrounded by much more water and shelter was significantly weaker. Noah built the ark, the Church, that would harbor the faithful. Those outside of the ark perished, as will those outside of the Church. Science will make every attempt to dispute creation. Yet, they believe that meteors from outer space will destroy the earth and the world is doomed to disintegrate due to climate change. Creationists do not dispute these possibilities in the context of the Holy Scripture. Neither should there be any scientific dispute about the earth flooding in 2340 BC. There is no reason to not believe that people could live into their hundreds. There are records of people today, though very scarce, living up to 120-145 or maybe more years, despite the pollution and toxins in the air and in the products we use and in the food we consume. If you believe in creation, Adam and Eve populated the world until Noah, who is ten generations from Adam and Eve, and the grandson of Methuselah (Genesis 5:25-29). Noah and his family populated the world until now. Life after the flood began with four couples (eight people total). If we believe that Adam and Eve populated the world, likewise, so did Noah and his family. The children of each couple married and produced offspring and those cousins married, as some still do in various cultures as it is considered acceptable in different sectors. The flood was worldwide as the Holy Bible teaches and as it is reiterated by St. Peter in both his epistles.
