I want to fast; but when I fast, pride builds up in me. I now have two choices; either I do not fast and become unable to receive the sacraments, or I fast and fall into the sin of pride. What do I do to overcome this issue?

There is a problem with the premise of this question. If you use this method of reasoning, you will find that everything you do can lead to pride. Will you no longer excel at your job, learn something new, read the Holy Bible, show kindness to others, love one another, etc.? Fast, pray, and give alms and do not overthink the matter. If you fall into pride, repent and confess, then approach the Holy Eucharist with a contrite heart.
