I love my Father of confession dearly; and I feel he truly cares about me. However, because he works hard serving his people, he is usually exhausted when I go for confession. Also, I feel that he does not fulfill my needs and desire for spiritual guidance. I am afraid he might be offended if I tell him so or if I go to another priest at the same church. What should I do?

I would like you to try to go for confession at times that are not too late for your confessor father. Set time with him outside of regular confession time or be the first in line for confession and notice if this makes a difference with you. Confession is the best time to get everything you think and feel out in the open. Your priest is your 'father' and a father would not be offended by an honest heart to heart talk with his child. Talk to your confessor father about what you think your spiritual needs are; and the books you read. Discuss with him this feeling of hunger for more spiritual inspiration, the lack you are experiencing now, and the need for more. Listen to what he has to say and see if it will lead you to where you want to go.

If you still feel dissatisfied, you can try confessing to the other priest in your church. Your confessor father knows you very well and cares for you. Therefore, it should not matter to him if you acquire guidance from another priest. What would be of importance to him is your spiritual growth.
