I have kind of a hard time understanding this passage from Matthew. I understand that all believers of Christ must accept Him as the Lord God and follow the commands He gave in the Gospel and what His apostles wrote also. But the hard thing I do not understand is how can someone cast out demons in the name of Christ and be considered an evil doer and does not do the will of the Father in heaven? With what authority do these people have to be able to cast out demons in the Lord’s name if they are evildoers and being unworthy to enter Gods' kingdom? How are they granted such signs if they are not true believers to have the ability to defeat demons, etc.?

"Not every one who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and cast out demons in Your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you evil doers.'"

There are many people who profess to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and to love Him, but they are hypocrites and refuse to expunge the evil in their hearts. There are others who were once faithful but weakened at the end and did not continue with fervent faith and good deeds. Many may be gifted preachers, servants, and even clergy, but the position in itself is not a guarantee of eternal life. Their positions or gifts were not the goal, but a means for the ministry and the ultimate goal, which is Christ. Thus, if these people abused their power, then likewise, their service, albeit noble at a point in time, does not suffice their eternity. Life is full of on-going struggles. We must fix our eyes and efforts on the Lord Jesus Christ so that we can overcome by His grace. He is our goal, joy, and victory.

"He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son" (Revelation 21:7).
