Q&A Home > A > Absolution If my wife and I received an absolution from a Coptic orthodox priest 30+ years ago because my wife, who is Orthodox married me, a Catholic husband in a Catholic Church, is that absolution is valid forever or does it have borderlines and restrictions? If I move from Canada to the United States, do I have to obtain another absolution? I was under the impression that once a priest absolves you from your sin, it is forever. From the perspective of the Coptic Orthodox Church, once you have received absolution from a priest in the Coptic Orthodox Church, then you are absolved completely.
In regard to marriage, if the priest absolved you and your wife because of your different denominations, the absolution is still valid.
