I had a question regarding the verse in Isaiah 7:14: "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel." Why wasn't Jesus named Immanuel?

There are many names and titles of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is not only with us, as in the translation of Immanuel, but He is our Savior. Jesus (same as Joshua) means "God is Savior."

TITLES AND NAMES OF JESUS

There are over 100 different names and titles for Jesus. Listed here are a number of them. As you go over this list note that they describe the character of Jesus, the greatness of His glory and power, and also how He came to earth as a servant to provide you with many blessings.

• ADAM: 1 Corinthians 15:45 – "So also it is written, 'The first man, Adam, became a living soul.' The last Adam became a life-giving spirit."



• ALMIGHTY: Revelation 1:8 - "'I am the Alpha and the Omega,'" says the Lord God, 'who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.'"



• ALPHA and OMEGA: Revelation 22:13 – "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End."
