I am not into reading the theology books or learning about church history. I feel like I am wasting time because I would rather read a spiritual book that will help me get a step closer to God. I know that I have to know Him in order to love Him, but I find Him and His love in the books I read. My friend told me that was wrong and I need to read those theology books because they come with growing spirituality, but I do not agree.

You should discuss this with your confession father. If you do not have one, then until you find a confession father with whom you are content, continue reading the spiritual material that you enjoy.
