Q&A Home > L > Holy Gospel of St. Luke There are 6 questions in this category.
- I do not see the connection between the apostles' request and the Lord's reply in Luke 17:5-10. "And the apostles said to the Lord, ’Increase our faith.’ So the Lord said, ’If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.’" (Luke 17:5-6).
The following analogy that our Lord used does not seem contextual to me. The Lord has gone to another area totally unrelated to their question: "a’And which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and sit down to eat’? But will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for my supper, and gird yourself and serve me till I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you will eat and drink’? Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I think not. So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.’’"
- I have a question about King James Bible Version, Luke 16:6-7.
“And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.”
My question is why did he tell him to write fifty measure of oil? Why didn't he tell him to write sixty, seventy or eighty! What does the number represent? Does this number have a historical background? The same question applies regarding why fourscore?
- I was reading the Holy Gospel, Luke:16:1-12, and became very confused. It made no sense in its wording and what God is saying?
- What is going on in Luke 16:1-8 and what is meant by Luke 16:9?
- What is meant by the parable in Luke 5:36-39?
- What is the significance and meaning behind the parable of Luke 20:9-16, and what does the reference of verse 17 mean?
