How do we explain the age of the earth? The Bible says it is roughly 6600 years old, while scientists speak of the earth as being millions of years old.  Also, where are the dinosaurs in Genesis 1 and the creation? How could man and dinosaur have lived together? Is carbon dating accurate? If not, how can we explain this to the kids we serve?

Most of the animals are not specifically mentioned by name in the Holy Bible, e.g., kangaroos, giraffes, zebras, koalas, penguins, and many, many more. We have some descriptions of large and small animals, different kinds of birds that fly, different kinds of creatures in the sea, different kinds of creeping things, and different kinds of beasts of the earth. Dinosaurs would be among some of the larger kinds of animals. There are no specific reasons given why some animals are extinct and others are not. Perhaps dinosaurs were created and became extinct before the creation of man. Perhaps they became extinct because of the changing climate and limited food source. The reason is unknown.

"Then God said, 'Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.' So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.  And God blessed them, saying, 'Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.' So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Then God said, 'Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind'; and it was so.  And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good." (Genesis 1:20-25)
