I thought there is no forgiveness after death and everyone will be judged according to his or her deeds.
In comparative theology, I read about the difference with the Protestants, especially in the case of prayer for the dead body, because they reject prayer over the dead body. What I need is to answer this question with the help of verses from the Holy Bible because one Protestant told me that it is meaningless to pray on the dead body at the time of the funeral or on in the church.
Please explain why we pray for the people that have departed to heaven. Do our prayers make any difference for them? Can God forgive their sins because of our prayers?
Why do we pray for the departed during the Divine Liturgy?
