Since God is not human, why is he referred to by the male gender?

God identifies Himself as male not because of gender; but because He, in His great love for us and for our salvation, had chosen to incarnate becoming man in order to come to earth and live among us; so that with our limited mind and knowledge we may be able to relate to Him as a man and understand the great sacrifice He had endured for our salvation.
