Has the Coptic Orthodox Church issued any official document or report concerning the novel "The Da Vinci Code"?

A book like the Da Vinci Code should not take such attention from nor be purchased or read by Christians; but rather be treated as bad fiction driven by the devil. To use real historical background like World War II, or stories of characters that lived at the time of our Lord Jesus Christ and were affected by His teaching is not  new. However, the danger comes when the author while claiming writing a fiction, he uses the word 'fact' in his lines and confuses the reader by assuming his fiction to be facts.

Unfortunately, I met a lot of Coptic youths who have never read the whole Holy Bible not even once; but have read the Da Vinci Code from cover to cover; and are recommending it to others as "very interesting and hard to put down once you start reading it!"

Just by reading this book and discussing it, you are nurturing its ideas and encouraging those who knew nothing about it to read it out of curiosity. Unfortunately not everyone can differentiate between sick fiction and true facts; and the devil is ready and willing to confuse those who are not strong in their Christian faith.
