"I also am mortal, like everyone else, a descendant of the first-formed child of earth; and in the womb of a mother I was molded into flesh, within the period of ten months, compacted with blood, from the seed of a man and the pleasure of marriage." (Wisdom of Solomon 7:1-2, NRSV)

What would you say to the claim that this passage copies an Aristotelian theory (that the embryo is formed from "menstrual" blood) and hence is a scientific error?

I do not see why someone would think that this verse refers to menstrual blood! If so, what is the role of the seed of man! A mother's blood is a crucial element during pregnancy; for the fetus is fed (nourished) from the mother through the umbilical cord. Blood that goes to the fetus through the umbilical cord contains oxygen and nutrients. Therefore the life of the fetus depends on this flow of blood from his mother all through the period of pregnancy.
