Q&A Home > S > Synaxarium Why are some saints not mentioned in the Synaxarium? There are many canonized saints and contemporary saints that are not mentioned in the Synaxarion. That does not mean that the Church does not recognize these saints. The Church is currently endeavoring to update the Synaxarion in all languages. Most churches commonly recognize many saints mentioned in various patristic literature up to the fifth century, including our church. After that era, we may have some differences with other churches but still have some common acknowledgements of saints known for their prolific writing as long as their theological discourse does not conflict with the doctrine held by the Oriental Orthodox Churches. Examples of these saints include St. John Cassian, St. Ambrose, St. John Climacus, etc.
