In the Holy Book of James chapter 3, it is written: "the tongue cannot be tamed". Why do we then try to control it if the tongue cannot be tamed?

Animal distinct can be subdued through conditioning and punishment; but the sinful human nature that inspires evil words is beyond our control. The tongue cannot be tamed by the same power and art, which is used to tame animals. As a result no man can tame the tongue without supernatural grace and assistance. St. James does not intend to represent it as impossible; but as extremely difficult requiring great watchfulness, pains, and prayer to keep it in due order. Only the work of the Holy Spirit within us can bring this destructive force under control.
