Q&A Home > V > Video Games My children ages six and eight enjoy playing action figures electronic games. I don't like the roughness with which those characters act in these games. I do not agree with the opinion that the Play Station or Game Boy Advance are good for boys. I consider these electronic toys devilish and the television as a whole a waste of time. What do you advise me to do? Play Station or Game Boy is not different from any other entertainment devices that have both a good and a bad side depending on the way we use them. The internet in itself is an excellent source of information, but its use has to be regulated. This is because when logging on the internet, the dangers a child gets exposed to in terms of the type of information accessible at fingertips, the chat rooms or even the amount of time spent on the internet, are enormous; and so the internet becomes more harmful than otherwise. The VCR is useful for watching documentaries or movies about the life of saints etc. Everything has to be used in moderation and with great parental control. Is Play Station or Game Boy bad? Not necessarily, but It is crucial to pick which games your children will be exposed to. Unfortunately many of the games are full of violence, car theft, and some of them bloody. However there are good games available. Just make sure you know the contents of the game your child is playing. It is better to get good games for your children to play at home under your supervision and for limited time, rather than to have them play those games at a friend's house without your supervision.
