Q&A Home > S > Spiritual Warfare What is the proof that there is a God; for many are living their lives, much, much better than many Christians? Why do Christians think themselves better than the rest of the world just because they are Christians and are unwilling to look at, consider or study any other religion? - The fact that many unbelievers live a better life than Christians does not deny the presence of God. God never promised us an easy life on earth. On the contrary, our Lord Jesus Christ taught us "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me" (Lk 9:23). "Therefore I ask that you do not lose heart at my tribulations for you, which is your glory" (Eph 3:13). "We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God" (Acts 14:22).
When we do go through a tough time, we get to experience what the Holy Bible means by saying "Count it all joy" though we may not feel the joy right away. Our duty then is to pray that God give us, peace and help us endure with gladness, resting assured that that we will have our reward in heaven. These trials are for our benefit; for St. James says, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything" (Jam 1:2-4).
As for those non-Christians who are living their life without tribulations, they have obtained their reward on earth. Our God is a just God and no one owes Him anything. Those unbelievers who will not enter the kingdom of heaven obtain their reward on earth for any good deed they do.
- Christians should not judge others; but when Christians speak about other religions they should be judging and condemning the religion itself and its teachings. Our duty as Christians is to love all people regardless of race, religion etc... However, this does not mean that we are not to judge their beliefs and evaluate them according to the teachings of the Holy Bible. If we do truly believe that, every word of the Holy Bible is true, then we will automatically discover where other religions stand. Christianity teaches that the only way to eternal life and to the kingdom of God is through believing that our Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is our Savior. Our Lord said, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (Jn 8:31,32) "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (Jn 14:6).
The Holy Bible warns us "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people"(2 Cor 6:14-16).
- God did not create us as puppets to play with. God gave us full freedom of will to choose the way we want to live our life. He does not make the decisions for us. Although in His omniscience, He knows everything He does not just stand still passively and watch. On the contrary, He wishes that all be saved. We read in the Old Testament how God intended to punish Sodom and Gomorrah for their wickedness but before He did so "The Lord said, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him"(Gen 18:17-19). Then we read how God was willing to accept Abraham's negotiation concerning the destruction of these two cities.
Sinners do not amuse God; it hurts Him very much to see His children go astray. Our Lord Jesus Christ says, "I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance" (Lk 15:7). Do not allow this questioning and doubt that goes on in your mind to cause you give up the very spiritual means by which you will combat it. If you have already given up the liturgies and the holy Eucharist, how can you serve if you do not receive the fuel needed for the life of service and for growing spiritually with the Lord.
Pray to the Lord to grant you His joy. Read the Holy Bible daily for in it you will find all the answers to your questions. Pray that the Holy Spirit fill your heart and open your mind to understand the words of God in order to be able to recognize the messages the Lord gives you through His words.
