I have mixed emotions within me. I am torn between the desire to learn more about God, His Holy word, the Orthodox church teachings, and my studies. I guess I am confused about what I should do. Can you please clear this up for me?

I am happy to hear that the Lord Jesus Christ is first in your life. Spiritually this should be our greatest objective.

A person who is satisfied spiritually must also be satisfied mentally. What do I mean by this? I mean that in order for your joy to be complete, you must not neglect your studies. What you need to do is to ration your time wisely so that you give every need the time it requires. Here is a nice proverb from the book of proverb that teaches about using our time wisely:

"Go to the ant, O sluggard, study her ways and learn wisdom, which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, provideth her meat in the summer and gathereth her food in the harvest" (Proverbs 6:6-8).

The mental capacity of learning is a gift from God for our benefit..What we do now will define our future.

A monk once said, "I have a memory in every corner of this monastery, and with each brick, I have a story." This means that this monk contributed to every event in the monastery whether large or small, and received the blessing of having worked hard to accomplish it.

The Holy Bible instructs us to use our time to its fullest. "I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work" (John 9:4). Study and redeem your time. Move in the direction to discover your talents and abilities, and then put them to work in the service of the Lord Jesus Christ.
