How does one win others to Christ? I have many kids in my High School Sunday School class who I worry about. I try to bring them closer to God but I feel many times like my efforts are useless. I am afraid I will one day be held accountable for not being successful in leading them in the right path. I have tried to visit them but the devil has stopped me every time in some way or another. I call them on the phone or text them but they often do not answer. What should I do? Also, I am struggling with laziness, loneliness, and depression lately.

Jeremiah the prophet is a great example of a successful ministry though the results seemed unsuccessful. He responded fervently to his call because of his love for God, even when he was sent to a crude people who rejected and persecuted him relentlessly. Yet, he remained hopeful and steadfast, lamenting but fearless, and delivered every message faithfully. Thus, Jeremiah's unsuccessful ministry, was in essence, ultimately most successful. One must do what he/she is called to do, with all faithfulness and sincerity. Once one starts to assess and evaluate his/her achievements in the service, one may fall into the sin of pride or defeat. Do what you are called to do with love and do not worry about the outcome. Consult with others and remain open to suggestions from the priest and your co-servants. Just like a tree does not sprout overnight neither a flower blooms instantly, so too is the spiritual maturation of the people we are called to serve. Do not give up on them or on yourself. Always choose to be optimistic and expect first of yourself that which you wish to see in others.
