How can one evaluate his deeds and motives spiritually in the light of what is good and what is bad?

Self-evaluation is essential in every person's life in order to make progress in our spiritual life, taking charge over our  habits, thoughts, actions that need to be changed. There is nothing wrong with evaluating one self and admitting our mistakes as well as recognizing the good qualities and deeds that  we do. What is very important is that  we do not take pride in our own deeds, but acknowledge and give the credit and the glory to the Lord admitting that without Him we can do nothing.
