Q&A Home > R > Relationships I am a college student living at home and I don't know what to do. Every time I do anything my mom gets mad and I just feel like no one cares about me anymore. If I try to help her or anyone else, she gets mad and says "why did you do it this way?" If she sees me crying she gets very angry because she doesn't think I have anything to cry about. It just seems like nothing matters anymore, no matter what I do, the situation doesn't change. So I give up, but for how long? What can I do? Why would your mother get upset with you for no apparent reason? Perhaps without realizing you might be annoying her through a certain behavior. I think the key to solve this problem is to have an open discussion with your mother at a time when neither you nor she is mad or uptight. Open your heart to her and tell her how you feel. Be calm during the discussion and listen attentively to every word she says. Beware of having a preset mind, but try to understand her point of view and find out what really triggers her dissatisfaction. A healthy discussion with your mom is the first step towards building a good relationship but you have to be open-minded. I am sure your mom loves you and want you to be the best so even if she seems harsh on you, it is not that she dislikes you but it is just her way of disciplining you.
