If man was given free will, why is our life predetermined?

I think you are confused with the foreknowledge of God and predetermination. Our life is not predetermined as we make new choices every day. It is up to us whether to live a life of sin or of repentance and purity. God is beyond time, for Him there is no past, present or future He is omniscient so the fact that He knows all the choices we are going to make does not mean that He is predetermining them for us.
