"Blessed is Egypt My people." Why this verse and why Egypt in particular? Will an Egyptian in a foreign country, living a pious, spiritual life, receive the same blessings as an Egyptian living in the land of Egypt?  

"Blessed be Egypt my people" is actually mentioned in the Old Testament in two different occasions. The promise in the Holy Book of Genesis 12:3, "I will bless those who bless you and whoever curses you will I curse, and all people on earth will be blessed through you." What does this verse imply?

God's promise to Abraham holds a sevenfold blessing:

1) I will make you a great nation.
2) I will bless you.
3) I will make your name great.
4) You will be a blessing.
5) I will bless those who bless you.
6) Whoever curses you I will curse.
7) ALL peoples on earth will be blessed thru you.

This was God's original blessing to all humanity. The extension of this blessing covered St. Peter's Jewish listeners i.e. Abraham's physical descendants (Acts 3:12), as well as St. Paul's Gentile listeners (Galatians 3:8). All of this is in reference to a NATION of people not land.

In the Holy Book of Isaiah 19:25 prophesied the fulfillment of the promise in the Holy Book of Genesis. "The Lord Almighty will bless them saying, "Blessed be Egypt MY PEOPLE, ASSYRIA my handiwork, and ISRAEL my inheritance."

For centuries, before the Incarnation of our Lord Egyptians and Assyrians had fought each other but in the future they will share faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
