Q&A Home > H > Holy Bread What is the Church's view regarding a woman's eating of the holy bread, not picked for consecration, during her menstrual period?
The holy bread, even though it was not picked for consecration for Holy Communion is still considered holy, received from the hand of a priest not any layman. Therefore, to give it all due respect, we need to treat it as we treat Holy Communion. That is why it is recommended that females should not take it during their menstruation period.
