In Genesis 6:5-7, it says "Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the Lord said, ‘I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.'" Does the Lord regret making us when we sin or when we commit a sin against the body like pornography or swearing? Does He regret making us, because the verses say, "for I am sorry I have made them"?

Regret is defined as a feeling of sadness. In these verses, God is expressing His profound anguish over the constant vile and deplorable sins committed through humanities' indulgences and abominations. God's love for us is immeasurable and He deals with us with abundant mercy. However, His omnipotent justice is expedient with wrath upon the world for the spread of corruption and lawlessness. Nonetheless, the repentance of one sinner rejoices His heart. The Ninevites won God's mercy by repentance: "Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it" (Jonah 3:10). Thus, repentance is the key to God's heart.
