I am a very sociable person. A lot of people like me. At my work, there is a small group of girls who have invited me to go to a small gathering at one of their houses. There will be a few girls and a couple of boys. It is hard for me not to be friends with these people. However, I feel that I am doing something wrong. What should I do? Cutting down on bad friends will mean ending up with a very few number of them and I like to be sociable. Please be practical with me when advising me what to do.

The fact that you doubt this relationship shows that it is not the right type of relation. Ask yourself: what makes you feel you are doing something wrong? What is that kind of fun you are looking for? How can you admit that they are bad and still want to associate with them? The very first psalm in the holy book of Psalms says, "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful" (Ps 1:1).

It is better for you to have no friends than to have bad ones. You need to fill your life with godly things. Being sociable is good but in every thing we do, we should glorify the Lord. If this social life will affect your holiness then you should distant yourself from it. I find it hard that all the people you know are bad. Can't you find some godly people to communicate and socialize with? Do you not have friends from church? If your coworkers are not godly people, your relationship with them should be strictly a work relationship. Do not compromise your godly life for a social one.
